The Local Area

Bridge of Allan is a large village of some 5000 people nestling at the western end of the Ochil hills. In the Victorian era it was a favourite place to visit because of its spa. Many of the villas built in the 19th century were used to accommodate the visitors who came to take the waters.

Since Stirling University was established here in the 1960s the village has expanded. The local shops are excellent. There are many pleasant walks on the doorstep, some challenging and some more gentle. Loch Lomond and the Trossachs are a short car journey away, as well as many other beautiful places.

Sites of historical interest are plentiful and all within easy reach. The university of Stirling is a 15 minute walk from Lorraine. Not only is the campus very attractive to walk in, but it is also the home of the MacRobert Arts Centre and Film Theatre.

Stirling is 3 miles away, and Glasgow, Edinburgh and Perth approximately 30 miles. There are excellent road and rail links. Lorraine B and B is quiet and peaceful, but its central location allows easy access to towns and countryside.
